For many years Smooth Jazz has been extremely popular throughout Europe and the United States, where it is heard on many commercial radio stations 24 hours a day. In Australia however, this type of music is largely unknown to commercial radio listeners.

Sydney radio announcer Paul E Routledge has been broadcasting Smooth Jazz on community radio 2SSR since 1993. He sees it as a wonderful opportunity to satisfy an Australian audience with its burgeoning thirst for today’s smooth jazz.

Australian and overseas artists, such as Al Jarreau; Anita Baker; George Benson; Andrew Oh; Albert Calvo; Randy Crawford; Steely Dan; Michael Franks and Incognito are regularly featured on the program. Over the years Paul has been able to add various new artists to his already wide playlist of smooth jazz by keeping in touch with people in the music industry both here and overseas. The result is a sound that is fresh and new and extremely hard to find on Australian radio. As such he has been approached by Australian smooth jazz artists for interviews and exposure of their music.

So now on Tuesday’s from 9pm, on 2SSRFM 99.7, Australian music lovers have the opportunity to share with audiences around the world, the smooth relaxing sounds of smooth Jazz.
